Borne out of a unique collaboration between Pyzel Surfboards and Koa Smith, the Pyzel Mini Ghost surfboard came to life as a perfect solution for smaller wave days on the North Shore. Smith, who has a penchant for riding tiny boards, expressed a need for a compact surfboard that doesn't compromise on volume, function, or paddle power. Drawing inspiration from Smith's favorite, the Ghost, the Mini Ghost was designed as a fun, chunky, and highly maneuverable version, perfect for those looking for a short but voluminous board.
When designing the Mini Ghost, Pyzel Surfboards took Koa Smith's 5'9" Ghost and reduced it to a 5'5" variant. To ensure the board retained enough float, they made a few subtle tweaks: they widened the board slightly, flattened out the deck, and created thicker, more boxy rails. The addition of a modern beak nose kept even more foam under the chest area and up into the nose. These alterations significantly increased the board's volume - a 5'10" Ghost XL carries 28.80 liters, while a 5'7" Mini Ghost packs an impressive 28.70 liters! The team also made a few small changes to the rocker, and it comes in either a round tail or a wider bump squash to make the board extremely fun in smaller, weaker waves.
Don't be fooled by its throwback 80s appearance; the Pyzel Mini Ghost is all about modern performance. Built for high-performance ripping, this surfboard is also great for less skilled surfers due to the added volume and forgiving ride.
